Popular local campaigner and resident Cllr Patrick Keating will build on the LibDems’ excellent results in the local and European elections to contest Weston-super-Mare in the upcoming General Election.

Since winning Blagdon from the Tories in May’s local elections, Patrick has been working with fellow LibDem councillors to demand better for residents of Weston-super-Mare and the surrounding villages. Patrick has been campaigning to protect A&E services at Weston Hospital, standing against reckless development in the villages, and pushing for real action on the climate emergency.

As a school governor, Patrick will also be making education and support for our teachers a key plank of his campaign. The LibDems will make sure schools have the funds they need and teachers receive the recognition they deserve.

Patrick is also determined to stop the Tory’s devastating Brexit deal, which will have devastating consequences for our local community.

 Patrick said:

“This General Election will decide the future of our country for generations. It is our best chance to elect a Government to stop Brexit, and to deliver a brighter, liberal and open future for Britain.”

“The Liberal Democrats are the strongest party of Remain and offer a clear route to ending the years of Brexit chaos.  Boris Johnson’s deal would lead to a poorer future for our country, while Labour’s plan is for more dither and delay.”

“Weston-super-Mare and the village deserves a better choice than the current out of touch Tory or Jeremy Corbyn’s Labour Candidate. I am excited to take our positive, pro-European, liberal vision to the streets of Weston-super-Mare and the villages and to campaign on the real issues affecting people in the area.”
